Meridian Business Support are proud to be working on behalf of an Ofsted rated ‘Good’ school based in the Manchester area. They are keen to employ an experienced Exams Manager to work in their vibrant school as soon as possible to be responsible for the organisation and smooth running of both internal and external examinations. Role:           Exams Manager Term:          Temp contract until the end of August 2025 Salary:        Band 6 pt 23-25 (£32,076 – £33,945) pro rata £27,732.76 Location:    Manchester Hours:         Monday to Friday 8am – 4pm Term time only – plus 6 days to include INSET days   Main responsibilities Recruit, train and manage all invigilators Liaising with the SLT, Middle Leaders and other relevant staff regarding examination entries, coursework and assessment procedures and protocols, and ensuring the smooth running of the examination cycle at all key stages for both internal and external exams Disseminating information, answering enquiries and dealing with complaints regarding external examinations with staff, students and parents/carers Submitting entries for external examinations to awarding bodies in advance of deadlines Understand the regulations and requirements of all examinations held by the school, both internal and external Comply with all JCQ and awarding body regulations and keep up to date with any changes to these Manage arrangements for the safe and secure receipt, checking and storing of examination papers and materials Write, develop and review examination-related school policies Work with the SENCO to ensure appropriate access arrangements and reasonable adjustments for appropriate pupils Manage registration of candidates for all examinationsThe ideal candidate Good educational background with strong numeracy skills GCSE’s grade in English and Maths 4 or above or equivalent Recognised minimum NVQ Level 3/4 (or equal) qualifications gained through professional development, or a combination of formal off the job training plus experience in a similar environment At least two years of working in a school/college administrative setting Experience of working with confidential and /or sensitive data and understanding of GDPR / data protection principles and implications Managing the administration of examinations Experience of line managing other members of staff, and overseeing the work/providing guidance and relevant training to others (such as invigilators Experience in data management and of analysing and extracting information and producing reports for a variety of audiences Experience of using a Management Information System (MIS) Experience of working with awarding bodies and regulatory organisations e.g. JCQ Understanding and knowledge of exam board regulatory requirements if direct ‘experience’ cannot be demonstrated Knowledge of the principles of examinations timetable planning. Complying with statutory regulations set by external bodies High level of attention to detail and accuracy. Competent with common IT systems e.g. Microsoft Office, MIS Excellent Data Analysis skills Health and safety issues as they relate to this environment. A good telephone manner.
