We are recruiting for a Shipping & OperationsManagerfor a large contract, based in Yeovil. You will oversee shipping operations, team performance, compliance, KPIs and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure import and export activities comply with customs, trade compliance and export control regulations.
- Monitor team productivity, KPIs and service levels, taking corrective action where required.
- Identify process bottlenecks, risks and opportunities to improve operational flow and reduce lead times.
- Manage critical or late shipments and shipping-related escalations.
- Provide daily reporting to the customer.
- Maintain current and compliant Work Instructions and process documentation.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for shipping errors, delays and compliance issues.
- Support internal and external audits and compliance investigations.
Team & Customer Management
- Conduct performance reviews, coaching and development planning.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, training and succession planning.
- Manage attendance, disciplinary, grievance and performance processes in line with company policy.
- Act as the primary escalation point for shipping issues affecting the customer.
- Build effective relationships with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Attend customer reviews and audits and support projects including Project Hermes.
- Ensure contractual and customer requirements are reflected in operational processes.
About You
- Experience of working and managing a team in a shipping or similar environment.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and team-working skills.
- Computer literate with experience using SAP.
