Meridian Business Support is recruiting on behalf of a well-established manufacturing business for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical or Electrical) to join their engineering team in Doncaster.
This is a site-based role with no travel required, offering the opportunity to work within a highly automated production environment where reliability, continuous improvement and teamwork are key.
As a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical or Electrical), you will be responsible for keeping production equipment operating safely and efficiently, supporting both planned preventative maintenance and rapid response to breakdowns.
Key responsibilities include
- Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across a range of production machinery and equipment
- Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults to minimise downtime
- Maintaining conveyors, elevators, palletisers, packaging machinery and automated production equipment
- Installing, servicing and modifying pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical and electrical systems
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment reliability and performance
- Working closely with operations teams to maximise production efficiency
- Completing maintenance documentation and ensuring compliance with health, safety and quality standards
- Shift Pattern
- Week 1: 6:00am to 2:00pm Mon-Thu;6:00am to 12:00pm Fri
- Week 2: 2:00pm to 10:00pm Mon-Thu;12:00pm to 6:00pm Fri
- Week 3: 10:00pm to 6:00am Mon-Thu;6:00pm to 12:00am Fri
To be successful in this Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical or Electrical) position, you will have:
- A recognised Engineering Apprenticeship or engineering qualification such as BTEC, ONC or equivalent
- Previous experience as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, Electrical Maintenance Engineer, Maintenance Technician, Shift Engineer, Production Engineer or similar
- Strong fault-finding, troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Experience within manufacturing, FMCG, production, processing or another fast-paced industrial environment
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance, breakdown repair and continuous improvement processes
- Experience working with mechanical and/or electrical systems, including hydraulics and pneumatics
- Experience with PLCs, SCADA systems, automation, packaging equipment, conveyors or process machinery would be beneficial but is not essential.
Joining as a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical or Electrical) offers a comprehensive package including:
- £45,615 annual salary including 15% shift allowance
- 38-hour working week
- 26 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays
- Additional day's holiday after 5 years' service
- Option to buy or sell up to 5 days' holiday after your first full year
- 7.5% employer pension contribution
