Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm

Our client is a well-established engineering company specialising in the maintenance, refurbishment and servicing of industrial equipment. Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit an experienced Mechanical Service Technician / Mechanical Fitter to join their engineering team based in Swadlincote.

The Role

As a Mechanical Service Technician, you will be responsible for inspecting, servicing, repairing and rebuilding specialist industrial processing machinery to OEM standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect, diagnose and repair industrial processing equipment.
  • Dismantle, inspect and rebuild machinery to OEM specifications.
  • Replace bearings, shafts, seals and rotating components.
  • Carry out precision alignment and mechanical assembly.
  • Diagnose mechanical failures, structural fatigue and component wear.
  • Produce detailed inspection reports and technical documentation.
  • Assist with installation and commissioning of refurbished equipment.
  • Maintain high standards of health and safety whilst working in the workshop and on customer sites.

Applicants should have experience working on industrial processing equipment, ideally including:

  • Vibratory Equipment
  • Vibratory screens
  • Vibratory feeders
  • Exciter units
  • Eccentric drive systems
  • Magnetic Separation Equipment
  • Eddy Current Separators (ECS)
  • Permanent and Electromagnetic Overband Magnets
  • Magnetic Head Pulleys
  • Magnetic Drum Separators
  • Suspension Magnets

Mechanical Skills

You should have experience with:

  • Bearing replacement
  • Mechanical rebuilds
  • Shaft alignment
  • Setting critical tolerances
  • Rotor balancing
  • Precision mechanical assembly

Applicants should be confident using precision measuring equipment, including:

  • Micrometers
  • Dial indicators
  • Vernier calipers

You'll be able to:

  • Measure wear against OEM tolerances

Essential Qualifications

  • Level 3 NVQ, City & Guilds or BTEC in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • CSCS Card, CCNSG Safety Passport or equivalent
  • Full UK Driving Licence

Desirable Qualifications

  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations or equivalent
  • Experience testing electromagnetic coils
  • Gauss testing of magnetic equipment
  • Non-Destructive Testing (DPI or similar)
  • Forklift, MEWP or Overhead Crane certification
