We are looking for a motivated and reliable Workshop Supervisor to join our growing operations team. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced engineering environment and has experience within a heavy engineering industry.

Due to business growth, we are recruiting for an experienced Workshop Supervisor who will be 50% hands-on in the workshop, and 50% supervisor duties.

As the Workshop Supervisor, your duties will be:

  • Ensuring all health and safety procedures are adhered to at all times.
  • Managing a small team of engineers to ensure orders are on schedule.
  • Allocate workloads and communicate job/projects progression.
  • Make recommendations/technical decisions on orders.
  • Checking materials and parts are available for projects.
  • Stripping, inspecting, rebuilding, and testing gearboxes/transmissions.
  • Fault finding/repairing hydraulic, mechanical faults.
  • Completing reports and repair documentation.
  • Bench testing rebuilt units before they go back to customers.
  • Liaising with field engineers or customers about technical issues.
  • Maintaining workshop cleanliness, tooling, and safety procedures.

The successful Workshop Supervisor will have the following skills:

  • Experience managing small teams.
  • Must be a time-served Mechanical Engineer.
  • Solid background in a Heavy Engineering/Mechanical Engineering role.
  • Ideally have experience with presses/lathes/milling machines/surface grinders.
  • Ability to read technical drawings.
  • IT literate.
  • Confident and excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
