Are you an experienced HGV or Commercial Vehicle Technician who enjoys working independently and solving problems away from a traditional workshop environment?
Pertemps is recruiting three permanent Mobile HGV Technicians to join an established commercial vehicle maintenance business in Warrington.
Operating from a fully equipped Mobile Service Unit, you will travel to customer locations to complete inspections, servicing, preventative maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on HGVs and commercial trailers.
The role offers varied work, greater independence and the opportunity to build strong relationships with fleet customers while helping to keep their vehicles safe, compliant and operational.
What you will be doing
- Travelling to customer sites to inspect, service and repair HGVs and trailers
- Completing preventative maintenance inspections
- Diagnosing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic faults
- Repairing braking, suspension, steering, driveline and vehicle electrical systems
- Attending breakdowns and completing roadside or site-based repairs
- Preparing vehicles and trailers for DVSA annual testing
- Identifying additional defects and recommending further repairs
- Ensuring vehicles are safe, roadworthy and compliant
- Completing service sheets, inspection reports, defect records and electronic job cards
- Providing customers with clear updates on repairs and maintenance requirements
- Managing the tools, equipment and stock held within your Mobile Service Unit
- Keeping the service vehicle clean, organised and ready for operation
- Following all company health and safety procedures and safe working practices
What we are looking for
- Previous experience maintaining and repairing HGVs, trailers or commercial vehicles
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding ability
- Good knowledge of diesel engines, air-braking systems, suspension, pneumatics and vehicle electrics
- Experience completing servicing, safety inspections and MOT preparation
- An understanding of DVSA standards and commercial vehicle roadworthiness
- The confidence to work independently with limited supervision
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
- Professional communication and customer-service skills
- A full UK driving licence
- Flexibility to travel to customer locations
An NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair would be advantageous.
An HGV Class 1 or Class 2 licence, trailer-maintenance experience, mobile-service experience or manufacturer-specific training would also be beneficial.
