The Role: Mechanical Process Engineer
Hours of Work: 08:15 – 17:00 Monday to Friday, with one early finish (13:00) – early finish day tbc
Key Responsibilities- Maintenance and rectification of engineering faults to maximise availability of machines and keep them in good working condition
- Analyse existing mechanical processes and identify areas for improvement, looking to optimise throughput and reduce waste
- Develop automation programmes, implement new automated products, and carry out routine maintenance of robots, tool attachments, and systems
- Collaborate with multi-functional teams to integrate new processes and technologies into production systems
- Assist the tool change fitters with achieving tool change target times, and ensuring all tools and ancillary equipment are ready for operation
- Set up machines when tool changes are complete
- HNC Qualified with a minimum of 3 years post-apprenticeship experience
- Excellent fault‑finding skills
- Ability to multi‑task and prioritise based on operational needs
- Experience in a manufacturing environment (ideally with plastic processing knowledge)
- Experience of automation technologies would be beneficial
- Increase the production efficiency and up‑time of machines
- Monitor machine downtime trends and resolve recurring issues
- Contribute to the reduction in process waste
- Make and implement recommendations for process improvements
- Salary up to £48,000 per annum dependant on experience
