Our client, a leading global Professional Services firm with a growing Fund Services / Fiduciary arm, is looking for a qualified accountant with managerial and Real Estate accounting experience to join its growing Account services team and to manage a small team of London based accountants.
Roles & Responsibilities
- You will manage a small team of London based accountants, meeting diverse client accounting needs across UK and Channel Islands service lines. This includes, but is not limited to; Real Estate, Private Wealth and Corporate Services.
- The role will primarily manage a bank of clients, reviewing financial statements and line management duties, focused on Real Estate clients and the running of the firm's VAT service line.
- You will also be responsible for development of the London based accountants and wider team as required, which will include recruitment, training and sharing technical knowledge with the team and fee earners.
- Additional duties include:
- Meeting regularly with the in-house teams to ensure adherence to contractual obligations and client specific KPIs.
- Reviewing financial statements, management accounts and bookkeeping across a variety of different client types.
- Attending client meetings to provide technical accounting support.
- Key involvement in projects and team decisions at senior level.
- Assisting with the creation and maintenance of client specific accounting procedures and templates.
- Liaising with tax advisors and ensuring compliance with UK tax and supporting the UK team with the VAT service offering.
- Liaising with external auditors.
Experience & Qualifications
- Accountancy qualification - either ACCA, ACA, CIMA, ICAS or other recognised qualification.
- Demonstrated post qualification experience, and a detailed knowledge of the local finance industry, legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Must have an excellent working knowledge of UK GAAP, IFRS, financial reporting standards and a solid grasp of audit approaches.
- Also required: experience with both VAT return preparation and submissions and Real estate accounting.
- You will have knowledge of the financial reporting requirements for corporate, real estate and private wealth clients, and familiarity with the UK tax reporting environment.
- Knowledge of Caseware is advantageous, but not essential.
- As a people manager you will have a structured approach to planning, prioritisation and control of your own work and team workload.
- You will be a self-motivated, analytical thinker, with strong client service mentality.
- In addition to this you will have proven diagnostic, problem solving and decision-making skills.
