Our client, a highly regarded investment firm, has an exciting new opportunity for an experienced Financial Controller to join their growing team based in London, focusing on the EMEA region of the business. The role spans legal entities across the UK, France and Switzerland, and the successful candidate will take ownership of financial control across these jurisdictions. You will operate as a trusted Finance Business Partner and will have the opportunity to apply your accounting and finance experience across a range of processes and operations, as well as ensuring continuous improvement across the function.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Oversight and responsibility for the preparation of monthly management account information.
- Lead the preparation and delivery of statutory accounts across EMEA entities, coordinating with external auditors and ensuring timely completion of the annual audit process in accordance with applicable local accounting standards, including UK GAAP (FRS 102) for UK entities.
- Provide and analyse quarterly budgeting and forecasting information, ensuring alignment with the firm's strategic goals and financial targets, and be able to present this effectively to key stakeholders and senior leaders across the Firm.
- Oversight of regional client billing cycles and fee calculations, ensuring these are produced by relevant team members with accuracy and timeliness.
- Preparation, analysis and delivery of regulatory filings across EMEA jurisdictions, including FCA regulatory reporting (GABRIEL/RegData and MIFIDPRU), VAT returns across UK, French and Swiss entities, and any other applicable local regulatory submissions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in all filings.
- Be responsible for conducting thorough analytical reviews of financial statements and budget reports to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
- Regularly present analysis and findings to senior management, explaining financial data in a clear and concise manner, and identifying innovative approaches to analysing relevant data.
- Continuously review and propose enhancements or improvements to operating processes to ensure and improve efficiency and accuracy, and providing support to other team members as part of their ongoing training and development, where required.
Experience & Qualifications
- A commercially-minded, proactive and motivated team player with a strong understanding of financial principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to review and communicate complex financial information effectively.
- Will ideally hold a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field, or present equivalent qualifications or experience.
- Will have demonstrable, or equivalent, 5-8 years post qualified experience in accounting, financial analysis, finance business partnering, or a similar finance related role within a corporate environment.
- Experience within, or a strong understanding of, the Financial Services industry.
- Proven experience of adhering to the regulatory reporting requirements within the Financial Services industry.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail and the ability to identify areas of improvement with an innovative approach.
- A solid understanding of Financial Planning and Analysis, and the ability to approach data and processes with a commercial lens.
