Legal Billing Administrator - Up to £48k base + bens + bonus

Our client, a leading global Law firm with a growing Fund Services / Fiduciary arm, is looking for an experienced Legal Billing Administrator (18 months+ experience) from a City Law Firm to join its newly formed Finance Billing and Collections team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the business with the creation and distribution of invoices and will play a key role in helping drive process efficiencies and optimise the firm’s working capital.

Responsible for the production of legal bills from initial creation through to distribution to clients.

Regular review of WIP balances with fee earners / other members of the Finance team to agreewhere bills can be raised.

Providing support to the business for complex billing requirements, including amendments to billsreversals, write offs and database amendments.

Act as subject matter expert for billing on the firm's practice management system and seek opportunities to improve utilisation of billing functionality and enhance internal processes.

Managing billing email inboxes and addressing emails in a timely manner.

Ensuring queries and escalations are handled correctly and promptly through to appropriateresolution, including handling queried invoices.

Implementing process improvements for new and existing matters.

Monitoring changes in invoicing requirements of clients and ensuring adherence to these requirements to support timely payment.

Liaising with clients to obtain matter/purchase order numbers, where required.

Collaborating with internal fee earning teams to ensure invoices comply with external counsel guidelines.

Providing ad-hoc support to the wider Finance team where required.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Essential: Prior experience working in a billing role in a legal environment.
  • Essential: basic proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Preferred: Experience using Aderant tools and automated workflows.
  • Highly diligent with an organised and timely approach to work, ensures attention to detail.
  • Excellent client service mentality with a ‘can do, will do’ attitude.
  • Effective and respectful communication, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work proactively and effectively within a team and with minimal supervision.
  • Analytical and logical approach, with a strong sense of initiative.
  • Awareness of the importance of the wider commercial environment.
  • A team ethos and excellent client service attitude.

This is a great opportunity to join a new, growing team and wider Legal and Financial Services firm where you will have real scope to ‘put your stamp’ in this role and have influence in the wider organisation. Candidates can be based mainly remotely, ideally coming to the London office once a week with occasional travel required to the Channel Islands.
