Mere Plantations are a UK registered company, based in Chester, commercially reforesting degraded forestland located in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. Mere is one of the largest private tropical hardwood plantation developers in Africa, with over 20 years’ experience of reforestation and sustainable land management. An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the team at Mere’s UK Head Office, based within Chester Business Park, as a trainee forestry administrator. Please note, this role requires a permanent right to live and work in the UK.
Key Responsibilities
- You will be supporting the day-to-day administrative operations of the teams in our Ghana office, management team and Directors within the UK.
- This role includes analysing and gaining a comprehensive understanding of forestry processes, including operations, data entry, liaising and coordinating internally and externally, managing client files and records, archiving and filing (digital and paper), providing sales administration support, taking on customer service responsibilities and any other duties required by the senior team.
- You will receive on-the-job training in areas as diverse as finance, administration, environmental management, forestry operations, carbon crediting processes, timber, satellite monitoring and sales support.

- Excellent communication skills, confident speaking to clients and colleagues face-to-face, over the telephone and via email.
- Dynamic and flexible mindset, with a strong drive and work ethic.

- Possess strong IT skills, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Have a good knowledge of Office 365.

Basic requirements
- UK Driving licence or proven means to commute to work (Chester, England).
- Be fluent in written and spoken English.
- Senior education qualifications (GCSEs or equivalent and above) or equivalent experience.
