About the role
Based in Derby, this role supports the day-to-day operations of the Derby Aboriginal Short Stay Accommodation Service (DASSA) by ensuring all accommodation areas are clean, safe and welcoming for guests. You will lead and support a small team of General Hands, ensuring high standards of housekeeping and cleanliness across guest rooms, shared facilities and outdoor areas. This role combines hands-on cleaning responsibilities with team leadership, including training new team members, managing supplies, maintaining cleaning schedules and supporting a positive team culture. Your attention to detail and proactive approach will help ensure rooms are prepared to a high standard and that the service environment remains safe, hygienic and welcoming for guests.
About you
You’ll have an eye for detail and take pride in ensuring you lead your team to deliver a high standard of customer service while organising your time effectively to meet your responsibilities. You will also have:
- Proven experience in a similar leader role such as in commercial, industrial, or domestic cleaning
- Ability to work with and communicate effectively and sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
- Effective time management skills and the ability to use your initiative
- Demonstrates a flexible mindset and approach to your work
COVID and Influenza vaccinations are preferred but not required. National Police Clearance (obtained within the last six months).
