I am working with a leading civil engineering contractor delivering major water and wastewater programmes across the South East. We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of capital projects that maintain, enhance, and future-proof critical water infrastructure.

The Opportunity

You will take full ownership of water and wastewater project delivery, coordinating design, planning, construction, permitting, traffic management, commissioning, and commercial activities. You will ensure performance against time, cost, quality, and safety objectives while fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and behavioural safety.

As Project Manager, you will be the main interface with clients, managing progress reporting, change control, operational constraints, and assurance processes, while maintaining robust governance, programme baselines, and risk management across all project phases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects
  • Manage design teams, subcontractors, and site delivery staff
  • Establish and maintain project governance, integrated programmes, and critical-path schedules
  • Oversee CDM Principal Contractor duties, RAMS, and safe-by-design approaches
  • Monitor budgets, forecasts, cost control, and subcontractor performance
  • Coordinate across all project disciplines, ensuring timely and defect-free delivery
  • Promote a high-performing culture focused on safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement

About You

  • Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent in Civil Engineering, Construction, or related discipline
  • ILM Level 5 (or equivalent)
  • NEBOSH National Certificate (General or Construction)
  • Proven track record as a Project Manager or similar role in water/wastewater or civil infrastructure projects
  • Experienced in managing designers, subcontractors, and multidiscipline teams
  • Strong operational and delivery experience, including programme and budget management
  • SMSTS certification
  • Committed to delivering the highest health and safety standards
