The Role
As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring plant and equipment operate safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance
- Diagnose mechanical faults and complete effective repairs
- Conduct routine inspections and servicing of plant machinery
- Strip, inspect, repair, and rebuild gearboxes, pumps, motors, conveyors, bearings, and shafts
- Work closely with production teams to maximise uptime and productivity
- Maintain accurate maintenance records
- Assist with installation and commissioning of new equipment
- Liaise with external contractors when required
- Follow safe systems of work (LOTO, permits, RAMS, risk assessments)
- Maintain high housekeeping standards
- Identify continuous improvement opportunities
- Flexibility to work shifts and occasional overtime is required to support operational demands
About You
We are looking for a reliable, proactive engineer who works well under pressure and takes pride in delivering high-quality work.
- Experience within a manufacturing, industrial, or production environment
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
- Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics
- Recognised mechanical engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3, HNC, or equivalent)
- Strong problem-solving ability
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Self-motivated with strong attention to detail
- A positive attitude and commitment to safety are essential
