The Company
We are working with a well-established industrial manufacturing business operating within the environmental and process sector. The organisation runs long-standing, asset-heavy UK production sites supplying into regulated markets including water, industrial processing, and environmental services.
The business is investing in its UK engineering capability and is now looking to appoint a Project Engineer to take ownership of site-based capital and improvement projects across multiple facilities.
The Opportunity
This is a hands-on, site-focused Project Engineer role, created to strengthen project delivery capability within the UK operation. The successful individual will take responsibility for brownfield, live-plant projects, working closely with Operations, Maintenance, EHS and external contractors to deliver upgrades, replacements and compliance-driven improvements without disrupting production. This is not a desk-based PM role. It is suited to an engineer who enjoys being visible on site, owning projects end-to-end and acting as the link between operations and engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver capital and improvement projects on live industrial/process sites
- Scope, justify and manage CAPEX projects from concept through to commissioning and handover
- Lead mechanical/process-biased projects including plant upgrades, equipment replacement and compliance works
- Develop URS, scopes of work, budgets and schedules
- Manage contractors, suppliers and OEMs on site
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget
- Work closely with Operations and Maintenance to minimise disruption to production
- Support regulatory, environmental and safety compliance requirements
- Provide clear project reporting to site and senior stakeholders
About You
You will be a pragmatic Project Engineer with experience delivering projects in asset-heavy, industrial environments.
Essential:
- Experience delivering brownfield projects on live manufacturing or process plants
- Strong mechanical or process engineering bias
- Proven ability to own projects end-to-end (scope, cost, delivery, handover)
- Comfortable working closely with operations and site teams
- Experience managing contractors and third-party suppliers
- Strong safety awareness within regulated environments
Desirable:
- Background in chemical, environmental, water, energy or heavy process industries
- Experience with compliance-driven or reliability-led projects
- Familiarity with capital approval processes and business case development
Why Apply?
- Site-embedded role with real ownership and autonomy
- Opportunity to work on meaningful industrial projects, not paper exercises
- Stable, long-term position within an established UK operation
- Clear remit and visible impact across multiple sites
