A well-established and highly respected building services contractor is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to support the delivery of major construction projects across the UK and Europe. Operating across sectors including industrial, logistics, healthcare, pharmaceutical, commercial and data centres, the business has secured a strong pipeline of technically challenging projects and continues to expand its operational team. This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanically biased engineer looking to develop their career within a fast-paced project environment while working alongside experienced delivery teams on large-scale developments.

The Role

Reporting to a Project or Contracts Manager, you will support the technical and operational delivery of mechanical packages from pre-construction through to commissioning and handover. The role will involve both office and site-based responsibilities, ensuring projects are delivered in line with programme, technical specifications and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review project drawings, specifications and technical documentation
  • Manage technical submittals and approval processes
  • Raise and track RFIs throughout the project lifecycle
  • Coordinate with project teams, consultants and subcontractors
  • Ensure latest drawing revisions are issued and implemented on site
  • Assist with procurement and tracking of long lead mechanical equipment
  • Monitor subcontractor performance and compliance
  • Attend site coordination and progress meetings
  • Support commercial teams with variations and technical changes
  • Assist with commissioning activities and project handover documentation
  • Maintain accurate project records and document management systems
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and industry regulations

Requirements

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or relevant trade background
  • Previous experience within M&E/building services construction
  • Strong understanding of project delivery processes
  • Good technical coordination and communication skills
  • Working knowledge of MS Project and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams within live project environments
  • Proactive approach with a strong willingness to learn and develop
