An established global engineering and manufacturing business is looking to appoint a Quality Engineer to support continued growth across its UK operations. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining and improving product quality standards across fabrication, assembly, inspection, and testing activities.
The Role
You will take ownership of quality engineering activities across incoming inspection, in-process verification, and final product release, ensuring all products meet customer, regulatory, and internal standards. This role will involve close collaboration with production, design, suppliers, and external inspectors, with occasional travel to supplier sites for inspections and audits.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate incoming, in-process, and final inspection activities
- Carry out dimensional and technical checks against engineering drawings, P&IDs, and specifications
- Manage quality documentation including ITPs, quality plans, weld maps, NCRs, and corrective actions
- Review NDT reports and oversee inspection close-outs
- Support pressure testing, FAT/SAT activities, and quality verification processes
- Maintain traceability documentation and calibration controls
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using root cause analysis and CAPA methodologies
- Support client and third-party inspections and manage witness/hold points
- Provide quality guidance to shop floor teams and technical staff
Requirements
- Previous experience within mechanical, fabrication, modular plant, piping, or electromechanical manufacturing environments
- Strong understanding of quality processes within engineering/manufacturing
- Ability to read and interpret: P&IDs, Isometric drawings, GA drawings, Electrical schematics
- Knowledge of welding quality standards, material traceability, and NDT processes
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality systems
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Desirable
- Engineering degree or equivalent qualification
- Six Sigma or continuous improvement training
- Experience with pressure systems, piping standards, or regulated manufacturing environments
- Knowledge of pressure testing, torque procedures, and electrical testing methods
