We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join a growing Mechanical & Electrical contractor. This role would suit someone with strong mechanical building services knowledge who can review drawings and specifications, complete accurate take-offs using Bluebeam, produce estimates, and support the tender process through to submission. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of mechanical systems including HVAC, ventilation, air conditioning, domestic water services and drainage. You will be confident using Bluebeam for take-offs and able to communicate clearly with clients, suppliers and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Review drawings, specifications, schedules and tender documentation.
- Complete accurate mechanical take-offs using Bluebeam.
- Prepare detailed estimates for mechanical building services packages.
- Price works covering HVAC, ventilation, air conditioning, domestic services, plumbing and drainage.
- Use estimating software to generate accurate mechanical estimates.
- Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain quotations.
- Compare supplier and subcontractor prices against the required scope.
- Prepare tender letters, clarifications, exclusions and supporting documentation.
- Communicate professionally with clients throughout the tender process.
- Identify risks, opportunities and value engineering options within tenders.
- Ensure estimates are accurate, commercially sound and submitted on time.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Mechanical Estimator, M&E Estimator, HVAC Estimator or Building Services Estimator.
- Strong mechanical knowledge across HVAC, ventilation, air conditioning, domestic services and drainage.
- Proven experience completing mechanical take-offs using Bluebeam.
- Experience using estimating software to produce estimates and tender submissions.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications and tender documents.
- Confident preparing tender letters, clarifications and supporting information.
- Strong communication skills with clients, suppliers and internal teams.
- Good commercial awareness and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tenders and work to deadlines.
Desirable Experience
- Experience working for an M&E contractor or mechanical building services contractor.
- Experience pricing commercial, industrial, healthcare, education or public sector projects.
- Knowledge of estimating platforms such as Trimble, Ensign, Estimation, ConQuest, Causeway or similar.
- Understanding of pre-construction, tendering and project handover processes.
