A British manufacturer and global company in mechanical engineering components is seeking an Area Sales Manager. The role offers a basic salary of £48,000 to £60,000 (experience dependent) with on-target earnings of £70,000. Benefits include a home office, company car, pension, laptop, mobile phone, and credit card.

The successful candidate will manage business activities throughout the Yorkshire region, focusing on account management (70%) and new client acquisition (30%). This position requires a mechanical engineering background and involves technical solution selling within various industrial sectors such as chemical, oil & gas, food and beverage, pulp and paper, mining, process, defence, power, wastewater, and pharmaceutical.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing existing client accounts and acquiring new clients.
  • Reporting all sales and quotation activity monthly.
  • Collaborating with internal sales engineers for technical support.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • External sales experience from a related sector (e.g., mechanical seals, rotating equipment, pumps, valves).
  • A strong mechanical engineering background or qualification.
  • Knowledge of rotating equipment, pumps, motors, gearboxes, compressors, and seals.
  • Exceptional relationship management and business development skills.
  • Excellent communication skills to engage with various stakeholders.
  • A proven track record in business-to-business sales.
  • A dynamic attitude and enthusiasm for sales.

An engineering qualification or apprenticeship is advantageous but not essential. Extensive product training will be provided.
