Trainee Sales Engineer Cowdenbeath, Scotland | Β£26,000–£28,000 | Permanent

Have you got what it takes to succeed The following information should be read carefully by all candidates.
Your technical qualification could take you much further than a traditional engineering role. Imagine developing genuine engineering expertise, working directly with customers, visiting live project sites and learning how to turn technical challenges into commercially successful solutions.
This is a rare opportunity to join an established UK engineering and manufacturing business that will train you from the ground up. You do not need previous sales experience.
Whether you're an engineering graduate, college leaver, CAD technician or already gaining practical experience within construction or manufacturing, this role offers a clear route into technical sales - with future progression into estimating, project management or business development.
What will you be doing? You'll work alongside experienced technical and commercial professionals, learning how to take a project from its initial enquiry through to quotation, order and installation.
Your responsibilities will include:
Speaking with customers to understand their technical and commercial requirements

Reviewing drawings, specifications and project information

Completing measurements, material take-offs and quantity calculations

Preparing accurate quotations and technical proposals

Following up opportunities and developing customer relationships

Supporting the external sales team with pricing and project information

Liaising with suppliers, contractors and internal installation teams

Producing or reviewing basic CAD drawings when required

Identifying new projects, customers and commercial opportunities

Attending customer meetings and site visits as your experience develops

Supporting projects from initial enquiry through to delivery and installation

You'll receive structured training in specialist engineered materials, technical applications, estimating, quotation processes and consultative sales.
Who are we looking for? We're interested in potential - not a perfectly polished CV.
You could be:
An engineering, construction or technically focused graduate

An HNC, HND, T Level or college-qualified candidate

A CAD technician or junior estimator seeking greater commercial exposure

Someone with practical experience in construction, civil engineering or manufacturing

An early-career professional looking to move into technical sales

You should be:
Technically curious and interested in how products and systems work

Comfortable working with measurements, calculations and figures

Confident communicating with customers and colleagues

Organised, dependable and attentive to detail

Commercially minded and motivated to develop

Proactive about following up enquiries and building relationships

Keen to learn from experienced professionals and build a long-term career

Experience with AutoCAD or similar software would be useful but is not essential, as training will be provided. A full UK driving licence would also be beneficial for future customer meetings and site visits.
What's in it for you? Β£26,000–£28,000 starting salary

Structured technical and commercial training

Direct support from experienced engineering, sales and installation professionals

Exposure to varied construction, industrial and environmental projects

Opportunities to attend customer meetings, project sites and industry events

Genuine progression into technical sales, estimating, project management or business development

Company pension and additional employee benefits

Permanent, full-time employment

Half day Fridays

This isn't a role where you'll be expected to arrive knowing everything. It's an opportunity to be trained, trusted and developed into a commercially capable technical professional. xiskglj
