As a placement student in our Clearing Operations department, you will be at the heart of our business, gaining hands-on experience in a dynamic commodity trading environment. You will be trained on exchange traded derivatives, market rules and regulations, and managing operational risk, where you will cover the full suite of energy commodities and the markets they are traded on. You will be challenged to develop new processes to address business needs and review existing ones with ad-hoc developments and improvements to the daily Clearing Operations tasks as well as helping to provide the group with valuable efforts in process enhancements.

Responsibilities:

  • T0 Processes: Learn about the trade data flows from the point of execution through to booking into our systems. Understand the potential points of failure and the processes in place to mitigate them.
  • T+ Processes: Controls in ETD markets are based on T+1 information. Learn about the processes, controls and tasks completed to ensure the risk and PnL showing in our systems is accurate to the market.
  • Collaboration: Work with trading desks, middle office, technology, compliance, and external exchanges and brokers to support with day-to-day trading activities.
  • Automation: Contribute to streamlining our processes by helping develop automation tools, a key focus of our team.
