Mercuri is an early-stage venture capital fund that leads pre-seed and seed rounds for UK companies at the intersection of media, entertainment and AI. We back outstanding entrepreneurs building tech-driven products for the new age of enterprise and the digital consumer. We have been investing in AI since 2018 and have two unicorns in our portfolio so far.

We are hiring an Investment Associate on a seven month fixed-term contract to cover a period of leave. This is a hands-on role at the heart of our investment process. You will work with the entire team, across the full investment lifecycle, from sourcing the next great company to supporting our existing portfolio founders, and you will be expected to hit the ground running.

Who We’re Looking For

Experience

  • At least two years of experience with meaningful exposure to venture capital, whether that is directly in VC or in an adjacent role. We care about the quality of experience, not the precise job title.

  • Familiarity with VC concepts: fund mechanics, deal structures, cap tables and the journey from seed to exit.

Skills

  • AI-native: you default to using the latest AI tools to work smarter and faster, and you follow developments in the space closely (desirable, not essential).
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, with the confidence to produce clear memos and present investment views.
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple deal cycles and workstreams concurrently.

Characteristics

  • Low ego and high hustle: tenacious, resourceful, and genuinely hungry for the role.
  • You take initiative and thrive with autonomy.
  • A networker with genuine curiosity about founders and their problems, who builds relationships that last.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to multitask effectively.
  • Strategic thinker and high curiosity about technology: Avid reader on technology trends and user of new tools.
  • Personable, adaptable, and energetic.
