We are looking for a motivated, organised and hands-on Housekeeping Supervisor to support the daily operation of our housekeeping department and help ensure every guest enjoys a welcoming, comfortable and immaculate stay.

Working alongside the Head of Housekeeping, you will supervise the housekeeping team, maintain brand standards and play a key role in delivering outstanding service across guest rooms and public areas.
The Role
As a Housekeeping Supervisor, you will support the day-to-day management of the housekeeping department, ensuring bedrooms, public areas and back-of-house areas are cleaned and presented to the highest standards.
You will lead by example, allocate daily workloads, inspect completed rooms, coach team members and help create a positive and productive working environment.
You will also work closely with Reception, Maintenance and other hotel departments to ensure rooms are ready on time and guests receive an exceptional experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Responsibilities
- Supervise the daily activities of the housekeeping team.
- Allocate daily room assignments and workloads.
- Inspect guest bedrooms, corridors and public areas to ensure they meet Mercure brand standards.
- Ensure all rooms are cleaned, serviced and released on time for arriving guests.
- Support the smooth running of housekeeping operations during busy periods.
- Monitor room turnaround times and productivity.
- Report maintenance issues promptly using the hotel's reporting procedures.
- Ensure linen cupboards, storage areas and housekeeping offices remain organised and fully stocked.
- Conduct opening and closing checks of the department.
- Support with lost property procedures in line with company policy.
- Team Leadership
- Lead by example and promote high standards of customer service.
- Provide day-to-day supervision and support to housekeeping team members.
- Assist with the induction and training of new employees.
- Coach colleagues to improve quality, productivity and performance.
- Encourage teamwork and maintain a positive working environment.
- Escalate any performance or conduct concerns to the Head of Housekeeping.
- Assist with departmental meetings and daily briefings.
- Guest Experience
- Deliver exceptional customer service at all times.
- Respond professionally and efficiently to guest requests.
- Resolve housekeeping-related guest concerns promptly.
- Ensure VIP rooms and special requests are prepared to the highest standards.
- Work closely with Reception to prioritise arrivals, departures and room changes.
- Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation and company policies.
- Promote safe working practices within the department.
- Ensure COSHH procedures are followed when handling cleaning chemicals.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping standards throughout the hotel.
- Report accidents, hazards and near misses immediately.
- Support departmental risk assessments and compliance audits.
- Stock & Equipment
- Monitor housekeeping supplies and report stock requirements.
- Ensure cleaning equipment is used correctly and maintained.
- Support linen stock control and inventory management.
- Help minimise wastage and improve operational efficiency.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in Housekeeping within a hotel or hospitality environment.
- Previous supervisory experience or experience leading a small team.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate and support colleagues.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Good understanding of cleaning standards and hotel presentation.
- Flexible approach to working shifts, including weekends and bank holidays.
- Right to work in the UK.
Desirable Skills
- Previous experience within a Mercure or Accor hotel.
- Knowledge of COSHH and Health & Safety requirements.
- Experience conducting room inspections and quality audits.
- First Aid qualification.
- Experience using hotel property management systems.
- Understanding of linen management and stock control.
- Experience supporting recruitment and onboarding.
- Knowledge of sustainability and environmentally responsible housekeeping practices.
