Position Overview
Mercor is seeking Material Science PhDs to contribute subject matter expertise to a frontier large language model project. You will craft high‑quality, challenging domain problems with real‑world applicability to inform the future of AI innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Work asynchronously with a team of domain experts across your field.
- Craft, solve, and review challenging problems with real‑world applicability.
- Commit 15–20 hours per week, with potential for increased hours and extension.
- Participate in a fully remote, asynchronous work environment.
Ideal Qualifications
- Master’s or PhD in Material Science from a top U.S. university.
- Experience coding in Python and MATLAB for projects or research.
- Field‑specific experience in Semiconductor Materials and Molecular Modeling.
- High attention to detail.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent proficiency in English.
- Currently based in the U.S., Canada, New Zealand, U.K. or Australia.
Role Start Date
- This role will begin in late December with applications reviewed on a rolling basis.
Interview Process
You will complete a short interview to assess your domain expertise and will be paid for up to 1 hour of onboarding time, including the screening process and a few onboarding videos if hired.
Compensation and Legal Details
You will be legally classified as an hourly contractor for Mercor, paid weekly via Stripe Connect.
