Position: Visual Arts (2-D) Criticism and Instruction Expert

Type: Independent contractor

Compensation: $55–$80/hour

Location: Remote

Commitment: 10+ hours/week

Role Responsibilities

• Analyze digital artworks to identify artistic intent, composition, and stylistic influences.
• Evaluate technical execution, originality, and overall artistic success.
• Distinguish authentic, human‑made work from AI‑generated imagery through detailed critique.
• Assess contextual presentation factors such as lighting, cropping, and digitization quality.
• Provide structured ratings and written feedback capturing both qualitative and quantitative insight.
• Contribute to a growing dataset that informs research on creativity, authorship, and digital image evaluation.

Must‑Have Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional experience as a college‑level instructor in visual arts, curator, or art director.
• Demonstrated expertise in two‑dimensional media such as illustration, painting, photography, or digital art.
• Proven ability to critique and grade artwork with depth, precision, and fairness.
• Strong writing and analytical skills, able to clearly express artistic evaluation.
• Familiarity with digital media, portfolio presentation, and emerging AI‑generated art trends.
• A professional or personal portfolio that reflects artistic competence and discernment.
