Location: Blackburn, Lancashire

Salary: A£85,000

Hours: 37.5 per week

A well-established 90-bedded hospital located in a beautiful setting is seeking a Specialty Doctor to join a team of experienced consultants. The hospital provides rehabilitation, recovery, and secure services for adult males, supporting individuals with mental health conditions and/or personality disorders.

As a Specialty Doctor, you will work alongside the Consultant Psychiatrist to provide daily medical cover for up to 28 patients. Your responsibilities will include assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients, monitoring their mental and physical well-being, and making adjustments to treatment plans as necessary.

The hospital has earned an "Outstanding" CQC rating in all five areas as of August 2019, and the team focuses on high-quality, recovery-oriented care with a variety of therapeutic programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Full GMC registration required

  • 12 months’ experience in adult psychiatry

  • Experience in a similar setting is preferred

  • Approval under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act (desirable)

  • Excellent knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983 (2007), Mental Capacity Act 2005, and relevant codes of practice

  • Ability to assess and treat patients and maintain clear, comprehensive medical notes

  • Take clinical responsibility for patients, including participating in ward rounds and reviews

  • Maintain CPD and revalidation requirements as set by relevant statutory bodies

  • No on-call commitments

Desirable:

  • Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, Physicians, General Practitioners, or equivalent
