The Role:

We are looking for a committed and experienced EHS & Security Manager to oversee our Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security (EHSS) initiatives at our Gillingham and Poole locations.

The primary responsibility of this role is to provide proactive leadership on all EHS and Security issues at the sites. This position will involve advising and supporting management on all EHSS matters, ensuring compliance with local and corporate regulations, and promoting a safe and secure workplace.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide active leadership on all matters of EHS and Security on site
  • Be an active presence within the site Operational areas to drive ownership and behavioral change with respect to safety culture
  • Lead the implementation of \”Life Science Distribution Safety System\” across the site
  • Provide EHS & security guidance to enable managers to effectively manage the EHS and security performance in their areas.
  • Monitor to EHSS KPIs & prepare performance statistics for corporate and outside agencies, taking proactive and reactive measures accordingly to steer improvements

Ensure site remains compliant with respect to all EHS and security policy and regulatory requirements;

  • All relevant (local statutory & corporate) EHS & security regulations, principles, policies and procedures to provide a safe & secure working environment.
  • Compliance with the Control of Major Accident Hazard Regulations (COMAH).
  • Monitor changes with EHS legislation/standards & implement appropriate EHS & security measures/programs.
  • Lead interactions with the regulatory authorities & maintain a good & constructive working relationship.

Develop the Site\’s Safety Management System & ensure maintenance and continuous process improvement to meet the needs of the business;

  • Investigate & report compliance contraventions, serious incidents, accidents and ill health.
  • Implement a process to ensure competency of employees.
  • Perform audits & monitor EHSS performance to identify improvement areas and ongoing identification of hazards, & ensure that appropriate CAPAs and risk assessments are implemented respectively

Who you are:

  • Degree in a scientific discipline (chemistry, biology, or hazardous waste management).
  • Essential: Diploma or equivalent in occupational health & safety or environmental management (preferably Cert IOSH or higher).
  • DGSA Qualification is an advantage.
  • Minimum of 10 years in an EHS role within the chemical or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Direct experience managing a COMAH site and dangerous goods warehouse is preferred.
  • Effective interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Leadership and teamwork capabilities with a proactive approach.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to interpret complex legislation and implement it effectively.
  • Strong report-writing skills and the ability to manage a complex workload.

  • The role is primarily office and warehouse-based
  • You will manage a small team and work collaboratively with various stakeholders to ensure compliance and enhance EHS performance.
