Role: To assist in the functioning of Big C’s charity shops to promote Big C in a positive way and to maximise sales by working within our stockroom or on our shop floor.

  • Sales Assistant: Processing sales transactions through the till efficiently.
  • Stock replenishment.
  • Re-merchandise stock to maximise sales.
  • Stock rotation.
  • Pricing stock.
  • Tidying the shop floor.
  • Assisting with customer enquiries.
  • Assisting, when necessary, with shop window displays to ensure windows are fully stocked.
  • Assisting brides in the bridal suite (Timberhill shop only).
  • Stockroom Assistant: Sorting through donated stock for its suitability for sale on the shop floor.
  • Hanging and steaming garments.
  • Sorting through bric-a-brac items.
  • Pricing stock.
  • Tidying the stockroom.
  • Assisting with stock replenishment.

Time commitment: Volunteering hours vary depending on the role and the opening times. They aim to be as flexible as possible and can discuss more with those interested in the role.

About the organisation: As a regional cancer charity, Big C is dedicated to supporting anyone affected by cancer in Norfolk and neighbouring counties whilst working with key partners in research and healthcare to improve future outcomes. There are an estimated 2.5 million people living with cancer in the UK. 1 in 2 people will get cancer in their lifetime. Big C seeks and implements new approaches and projects to make sure that no one is missing out on the opportunity to access our support.
