At Merchants Transport Limited we have an excellent permanent opportunity available for an HGV / LGV Class 1 Driver to join our expanding haulage business. We are currently seeking a Heavy Goods Vehicle HGV / Large Goods Vehicle LGV Driver Class 1 licence to join our Monday to Friday operation, delivering into merchants, building sites and various other customer locations. We are based in Stoney Stanton, Leicestershire and deliver to and collect from customers throughout the UK. Start and finish times are dependent on planned deliveries for the day, but the general hours of work are on average 50-55 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Flexibility is required, as no two days are ever the same. The role will include night out work. Rates of pay are competitive, with an hourly rate of £16.10 p/hour for a Class 1 driver with a night out allowance of £26.20 per night. Other benefits include: 28 days paid holiday rising to 31 days after one years’ completed service; Pension contributions; Driver CPC training paid for by the Company (limited to one course per year of employment). Experience / Skills Required: Flat bed work; Physical strength and fitness and be capable of the manual elements of the role - using straps and ratchets for securing loads; Delivering to building & construction sites and house developments; Nights out are a requirement for this role Ability to use initiative, apply common sense and work in the safest manner at all times. C+E entitlement on licence; Valid Digital tacho & CPC Card; For insurance purposes, candidates must be at least 25 years of age and have two years’ experience driving an LGV, and have no more than 6 points on licence (exclusions apply, such as BA, CD, DD, DR, DG offences).
