Merchant & Mills is a British brand with a clear sense of self. Since 2010 we have brought style and purpose to the world of sewing — designing patterns, sourcing exceptional fabrics, and making tools that respect the craft. We are a stand‑alone brand with a strong visual identity and a loyal, growing community of makers worldwide.

We are looking for an experienced and thoughtful E‑Commerce Manager to own and grow three distinct Shopify Plus digital properties: our B2C retail store, our B2B wholesale platform, and Merchant & Mills HOUSE. This is a hands‑on role — sitting at the intersection of trade, creativity, and technology. You will be responsible for the day‑to‑day running of all three sites and for their long‑term commercial direction.

What You'll Do Across All Three Sites

  • Own the full Shopify Plus ecosystem — performance, content, merchandising, and customer experience across B2C, B2B, and HOUSE
  • Manage product uploads, collections, metafields, and seasonal catalogue updates with obsessive attention to detail
  • Ensure each site has a distinct, coherent identity while maintaining overall brand consistency
  • Brief and manage external developers for bespoke builds or theme customisations across all properties
  • Oversee third‑party app integrations (reviews, loyalty, subscriptions, bundles, search)
  • Analyse trading performance using Shopify analytics, GA4, and reporting tools — and act on what you find
  • Work closely with the warehouse and operations team to ensure inventory accuracy and a smooth fulfilment process
  • Lead site optimisation for the direct‑to‑consumer store: conversion rate, UX, navigation, page speed, and accessibility
  • Collaborate with the creative team to ensure the digital experience reflects our visual identity and brand standards
  • Drive trading performance through smart merchandising, promotions, and seasonal campaigns

B2B — Merchant & Mills Wholesale Platform

  • Manage and develop the wholesale channel using Shopify Plus B2B features — price lists, company accounts, and trade ordering
  • Work with the sales team to align the digital wholesale experience with our broader trade strategy
  • Ensure the B2B catalogue, stock availability, and ordering workflows are accurate and efficient at all times

HOUSE — Merchant & Mills HOUSE Site

  • Own the end‑to‑end digital experience for the HOUSE site, ensuring it has its own strong, considered identity within the Merchant & Mills world
  • Manage content, product presentation, and customer journey specific to the HOUSE offering
  • Collaborate with the wider team on HOUSE‑specific campaigns, launches, and editorial content

About You

  • Proven experience managing multiple Shopify or Shopify Plus stores, ideally in fashion, craft, lifestyle, or interiors
  • Familiar with Shopify Plus B2B features — company profiles, custom pricing, trade portals
  • Commercially sharp — you understand margin, conversion, and what drives revenue across different customer types
  • Confident with Liquid (Shopify's templating language) and comfortable briefing developers when deeper work is needed
  • Strong eye for design and brand — you instinctively know when something is off
  • Data‑literate, but you balance numbers with instinct and taste
  • Highly organised and self‑directed; you manage your own priorities without being chased
  • A genuine interest in making, craft, or the slow fashion movement is a real plus

What We Offer

  • A role with real ownership and creative influence across three distinct digital properties
  • A small, talented, passionate team
  • Flexible hybrid working from our Rye, East Sussex base
  • 30% staff discount on the full range. Free patterns always. A monthly cloth allowance to make up one of our patterns
  • Sign up to our benefits package after 6 month probation is passed – this includes a £350 a year to spend on wellness treatments, death in service and income protection scheme

Details

  • Based in or able to commute to Rye, East Sussex (some flexibility may be possible).
  • Competitive salary depending on experience.
