The Mercer Master Trust Lead will play a pivotal role in driving business growth and managing key stakeholder relationships throughout the new business cycle. This strategic new business leader will leverage deep pensions market knowledge to develop and execute effective sales strategies, lead pitch teams, and collaborate across internal functions to strengthen Mercer’s Master Trust proposition. The successful candidate will build and maintain a strong market presence, manage complex accounts, and ensure exceptional service delivery to prospective clients.

We will count on you to:

  • Identify and manage prospective client opportunities
  • Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of new business opportunities, managing the sales process from prospecting through to winning and overseeing implementation into launch
  • Achieve agreed sales targets to drive business growth through internal and external collaboration
  • Lead and build successful pitch teams to deliver compelling presentations during pitches and site visits, confidently representing Mercer capabilities externally
  • Evaluate complex or large-scale client needs to prepare tailored responses to RFPs, sales presentations, and formal proposals
  • Facilitate pricing and scope negotiations to secure profitable revenue
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams such as Marketing, Investments, and Proposition to enhance Mercer’s Master Trust offering and share market intelligence
  • Leverage comprehensive knowledge of Mercer’s solutions and offerings to facilitate cross-company sales deals, maximising profit while meeting client needs
  • Build and maintain a strong market presence through visibility at key industry events, Mercer-hosted events, and active participation in relevant professional and industry organisations

What you need to have:

  • Proven track record in sales within the pensions or Master Trust market, with experience managing and growing large, complex corporate accounts
  • Strong understanding of the UK pensions market, Master Trust products and the related regulatory environment
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic sales plans and go-to-market strategies
  • Strategic thinker with commercial acumen and the ability to influence business direction
  • Natural connector and trusted partner who enjoys networking and building long-term relationships
  • Self-starter who thrives in a high-impact, results-driven role
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, confident in leading pitches and representing Mercer at client and industry events
  • Skilled negotiator with the ability to manage complex pricing and contract discussions

  • Technical pensions consulting experience is desirable
