The Role
An exciting role joining a high‑performing team. You will be responsible for an allocated portfolio of clients, build relationships, and ensure they receive a quality tax service delivered efficiently and effectively.
Responsibilities
- Build relationships with a portfolio of clients in corporate and business tax.
- Understand clients’ issues and advise on compliance obligations, manage tax risk and HMRC relationships.
- Proactively discuss tax‑planning opportunities, working with tax directors and partners to support delivery.
- Develop the wider team through technical education, soft‑skill development and on‑the‑job training; appraise and develop junior members.
- Negotiate and raise fees and manage WIP for your portfolio.
- Contribute to general management of the corporate and business tax department and attend regular management meetings.
- Assist with training of tax staff via on‑the‑job or regular technical updates.
- Appraise junior staff and support their development and performance.
- Respond to queries from our international network; provide support to partners on practice development, marketing, networking, website support, blogs, tweets and awareness of topical issues.
- Identify new opportunities within the client portfolio and collaborate with wider team to deliver additional services.
Qualifications & Experience
- ACA and/or CTA qualified.
- Ability to build excellent client relationships.
- Excellent communicator and relationship builder within a team.
- Extensive experience delivering annual corporation tax reporting requirements for a portfolio of clients.
- Experience dealing with complex groups and related tax challenges.
- Broad and strong technical tax knowledge; corporate tax priority, mixed knowledge a benefit.
- Ability to work within deadlines and deliver on agreed timescales.
- Experience identifying business‑development opportunities for tax clients, ideally across other service lines.
- Proficiency in Alphatax desirable but training available.
About the Person
The successful candidate will be a qualified CTA, ACA or ACCA with post‑qualification experience in a business tax department of an accountancy practice. You must have strong written and verbal communication skills, strong organisation, time management, and be a flexible team worker who can share our focused client‑service ethic.
