This is an exciting opportunity for an aspiring curator to join the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team's Heritage group, working at the heart of one of the most iconic teams in motorsport. As a Heritage Collections Assistant, you'll play a hands-on role in preserving, cataloguing and researching our world-class collection of historic cars, artefacts and technical archives, helping to safeguard the team's legacy while supporting events and activities that bring our heritage to life. Key Accountabilities (Duties):
- Supporting the Heritage Collections Curator in managing object movement processes, keeping thorough records of all items.
- Help ensure that the security and integrity of the collections are maintained at all times.
- Assist in managing the storage of collections.
- Observe relevant care and conservation principles.
- Create object lists of newly acquired material.
- Research the history of objects in the collection, adding value by extending the archive's historical knowledge.
- Record the history of objects added to the collection.
- Catalogue documents as part of their entry into the technical archive.
- Support heritage events as required.
- Support the process of data collection of chassis and driver kit.
- Assist in the fulfilment of contractual requirements for heritage objects.
Candidate Profile:
- A graduate of History, Museum Curation or similar degree.
- Some experience of working or volunteering within an archive, museum or other heritage environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to present large amounts of information in a clear and concise manner.
- Excellent research skills.
- Ability to organise own work to meet agreed objectives and targets.
- Enthusiastic approach and a team player who is supportive of others.
- Be proactive, determined and results focused to achieve a successful outcome.
- Eager to learn and develop own skills.
- Good analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Desirable - previous experience as a mechanic within a motorsport setting – F1, F2, Formula E, WEC etc.
