The Role

Join the Technology Engineering Department as we take on the challenge of Formula One’s exciting new era of sustainable technical regulations. By spending your year in industry with us, you will:

  • Apply your learning in one of the most technically demanding global sports.
  • Take on responsibility as you are supported and trained throughout your year.
  • Join us for a year-long placement from the end of June 2027 to the end of July 2028.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment at our state-of-the-art factory in Brackley.
  • Be an integral part of a cohort of students working across all functions of our team.

Key Responsibilities

As a Technology Engineering Industrial Placement student, you will become an integral member of our team, contributing directly to the development and performance of our Formula One car. Working within a fast-paced and innovative engineering environment, you will focus on designing, developing, and improving the hardware used across our state-of-the-art wind tunnel, driver simulators, and dynos, all of which play a critical role in testing, validating, and refining vehicle performance.

You will collaborate closely with experienced engineers, designers, and technicians, supporting ongoing design and build activities while gaining exposure to the full engineering lifecycle. From developing detailed mechanical assemblies and producing design documentation, to supporting manufacturing, testing, and installation, you will gain hands-on experience across a wide range of projects.

Alongside supporting existing programmes, you will also have the opportunity to take ownership of your own engineering projects from conception through to completion. This will include defining requirements, generating design solutions, managing project timelines, coordinating stakeholders, overseeing build activities, and delivering final outcomes. Through these experiences, you will develop valuable technical, project management, and problem-solving skills while making a meaningful contribution to the technologies that support the performance of our team.

About You

Essential

  • Have a strong background in mechanical engineering or physics-based disciplines and have some knowledge of 3D CAD. Commitment and a focussed approach will be required whilst working in a fast paced and challenging environment.
  • Have at least one year remaining on your current course or be enrolled on your next course from the point at which you start your placement with us.
  • Have flexibility in hours and approach is required, along with a ‘can do’, ‘team-playing’ attitude and the ability to work to strict deadlines under minimal supervision.
  • Be adaptable, have a proactive mindset, a collaborative approach and thrive in a team environment.
  • Show determination and resilience when facing challenges.
  • Have keen attention to detail.

  • Hands on experience in an engineering environment.
