The Role

Join the Planning and Programme Department as we take on the challenge of Formula One’s exciting new era of sustainable technical regulations.

By spending your year in industry with us, you will

  • Apply your learning in one of the most technically demanding global sports.
  • Take on responsibility as you are supported and trained throughout your year.
  • Join us for a year-long placement from the end of June 2027 to the end of July 2028.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment at our state-of-the-arts factory in Brackley.
  • Be an integral part of a cohort of students working across all functions of our team.

The Test Operations function is responsible for coordinating and delivering the car development and validation test programme across Test & Development, Dyno and Track activities.

Working across multiple engineering functions, this role plays an important part in ensuring tests are planned, prepared and executed efficiently to support car performance and programme objectives.

As a Placement Student, you will work with a wide range of engineering departments to improve planning, visibility, automation and operational processes across the test programme.

You will contribute to the development of new tools, systems, dashboards and reporting solutions that enhance decision-making and improve programme delivery.

This role offers a unique opportunity to gain experience in programme engineering, operational management, data analysis, automation and continuous improvement within a high-performance Formula One environment.

It is ideally suited to someone who enjoys solving complex problems, improving processes and developing practical solutions using engineering and data.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and support the delivery of engineering test programmes, ensuring readiness of parts, resources and facilities across multiple departments.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, planning tools and automation solutions to improve programme visibility, decision-making and operational efficiency.
  • Analyse programme and operational data to identify risks, bottlenecks and improvement opportunities, supporting continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Design, Manufacturing, Planning and Test teams to resolve issues, coordinate activities and ensure successful programme delivery.
  • Maintain project documentation, processes, action trackers and performance metrics, while supporting programme reviews and stakeholder communication.
  • Support the Cost Analysis Department as well as operational and technical areas with a variety of cost cap related activities. This will include:
  • Costing data quality improvements and data analysis
  • Process optimisation and automation.
  • Identifying cost saving opportunities
  • FIA / Finance reporting
  • Work with Finance and other Cost Analysts to ensure consistency of approach and methodologies, aligning processes and standardising practices.
  • Have a comprehensive understanding of the F1 Financial Regulations.

About You

Essential

  • Studying towards a degree in Engineering Management, Business Engineering, Manufacturing, Data Science or a related discipline.
  • Must be undertaking a placement year as part of the degree programme.
  • Must have at least one year of study remaining following the placement.
