Composite Fitter (Early/Late Shift) – Brackley, UK

At the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team, a group of passionate and determined people work to design, develop, manufacture and race the cars with the aim of fighting for world championships each and every year.

About the Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Trimmer to join the Composite Assembly department on the early/late shift (Mon-Fri 6am-14:30pm/14:00pm-22:30pm). This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a core department in assembling high quality carbon components for our F1 racing car in the most efficient, cost-effective manner.

Key responsibilities

  • Trim, fit and bond carbon fibre components as specified in engineering drawings and build instructions.
  • Assembling moulds, jigs, and fixtures.
  • Structural bonding of components to company specifications.
  • Ability to deal with technical challenges and solve problems as they arise.
  • Responsible for maintaining the highest quality standards on all manufactured composites components to defined standards.
  • Proactively contribute to the improvement of quality and efficiency.
  • Working to challenging and demanding lead times.
  • Assisting other areas of the department as required.

The successful candidate will display the following attributes

  • Ability to demonstrate significant previous experience of trimming/fitting a broad range of composite materials in Motorsport / F1.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal, always remaining respectful.
  • A methodical and thorough approach to the work with excellent attention to detail.
  • Be self-motivated and can motivate and influence others.
  • Work as part of a team in an ever-demanding environment.
  • A positive attitude and enthusiasm to develop and maintain good working relationships with colleagues.
  • Work well under pressure to meet demanding deadlines.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision.
  • A can-do attitude and a willingness to be flexible.
