The Payroll Officer (18 Month Maternity Cover - Fixed Term Contract) is responsible for producing and processing the payrolls at HPP monthly, ensuring they are done to a high standard (on time, in full with no errors). This includes all activities relating to and surrounding the monthly processing and annual activities. In addition to payroll, this role is responsible for managing the HRIS systems in place, keeping them up to date and accurate at all times, including reporting to other departments such as finance.
Responsibilities:
- Process the Employee Monthly Payroll to a high level β aiming for an accuracy rate of 98%+
- Manage all variable data, starters and leavers, ad hoc requests
- Manage the payroll provider to ensure accuracy levels are maintained
- Post payroll reporting
- Tax Year End Processing (P60s, P11Ds, Employer NIC contributions, Early Year Updates) and managing HMRC accounts
- Point of contact for employee queries on Pay
- Assist with day-to-day support with benefits administration
- Ad hoc reporting from the HRIS to support compensation & benefit activities
- Support if required β process the Expat Payroll (APro, Invoice tracking, Start/Leaver, Tax Payments)
- Support Payroll apprentice in tasks to ensure required work is completed to the desired standard
- Responsible for the Gender Pay report figures
Experience:
- Proven 5 years of work experience as a Payroll Officer or similar, managing payroll for approximately 500 - 1,000 staff
- Hands-on experience with HRIS and Payroll software
- Using initiative to take ownership for their area of responsibility
Knowledge:
- Payroll processing
- Tax and tax year processing
- Statutory Payments & Reporting Requirements
- Labour Legislation

- CIPP
