At Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains, our highly talented and ambitious team are responsible for the design, manufacture, testing and racing of Formula 1 power units and are pioneering in Advanced Technologies, transferring F1 technologies and know-how into high performance automotive projects and products such as the Mercedes AMG Project One and the Mercedes-Benz Vision EQXX.

We are extremely proud of our Early Careers Programme which is an integral part of our Talent Attraction Strategy; however, we recognise that we need to do more to create opportunities for talented women engineers who are significantly underrepresented in both Motorsport and Engineering. Diverse representation is a prerequisite for harvesting diverse ideas and perspectives, and we are committed to identifying, understanding, and removing the obstacles that inhibit Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and taking action to address the disproportionately low number of female engineers in our industry.

The Accelerating Women in Engineering Programme will offer a one year paid industrial placement to women engineers, providing exposure to a breadth of engineering within Formula 1 and Advanced Technologies working alongside some of the World’s best engineers. We are launching our application process today, with the programme commencing in September 2026.

The 12-month programme will offer:

  • A salary of £30,000
  • Full-time Work Experience in 2 areas of our Engineering facility (1 rotation)
  • A mentor assigned to each participant on the programme
  • Skills workshops throughout the year
  • Opportunity to join our HPP Women’s Network and Women in Engineering Project Team
  • Competitive salary and excellent benefits such as opportunity to join our car lease scheme and an onsite gym

Criteria:

  • Our Accelerating Women in Engineering Programme has been created for women who are studying for a 2:1 degree or above in an Engineering discipline, and are able to commit to a 1 year paid industrial placement starting September 2026
  • Available to attend our Accelerating Women in Engineering Programme Workshop on Friday 19th June 2026
  • An excellent understanding of engineering first principles
  • Curious and tenacious individuals who thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Practical, 'hands-on' experience to complement your academic studies
  • Self-motivated, thorough engineers that are adaptable, creative, and innovative
  • The courage to challenge and desire to be challenged, to expand your technical knowledge and skills

The process:

  • Submit your online application for a place on our 12-month programme, CV and covering letter
  • Within this we would like to learn as much about you as possible. Tell us about your hobbies and passions; related and unrelated to the scheme or degree you are studying as this will help you stand out against candidates that may have the same qualifications and grades as you.
