Job Description

Seeking an experienced Resource Manager to step into a Senior who works within the legal sector or professional services.

As a Senior Resource Manager, you'll play a strategic role in managing how work is allocated across our Real Estate teams. Your focus will be on fair, skills-based allocation, creating equal opportunities for team members, and supporting their professional growth. By matching individuals to the right work, you'll help boost engagement, performance, and retention.

You will collaborate closely with Partners, HR, and Learning & Development to identify training and wellbeing needs, manage capacity, and drive more effective collaboration. A key part of this role will also be supporting the implementation and ongoing improvement of a new resource management tool, ensuring data-led decisions and streamlined processes.

Key Responsibilities Partner & Leadership Engagement

  • Build trusted relationships with Partners and Team Leads to understand their priorities and resourcing needs.
  • Join key team meetings to provide real-time insights and updates on resource availability and allocation.
  • Share weekly utilisation and capacity reports, flagging challenges early and recommending solutions.

Fee Earner Collaboration

  • Develop strong relationships with lawyers at all levels to understand their skills, interests, availability, and development goals.
  • Ensure fee earners are regularly updating their capacity forecasts and help align work with their aspirations and experience.
  • Use resource management tools to map skills and proactively address skill gaps.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work alongside other Resource Managers to share best practices and ensure consistent work allocation processes.
  • Partner with HR, Finance, Practice Management, Business Development, and Project Management to support broader people strategies.
  • Support internal secondments, recruitment planning, and trainee allocation.

Reporting & Analysis

  • Deliver weekly and monthly reports on team utilisation, forecasting accuracy, and trends.
  • Use data to recommend process improvements and optimise work distribution.
  • Monitor holiday schedules and forecast impacts, providing recommendations to balance workloads accordingly.

About You We're looking for someone who brings both strategic oversight and hands-on execution to this critical role. You should have:

  • Proven experience in resource management, work allocation, or workforce planning within a legal, professional services, or corporate setting.
  • Strong commercial understanding and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the confidence to engage senior leaders.
  • A proactive mindset and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Excel; experience with resource management tools is a plus.
