Job Description
Meraki Talent are working with a growing Retail & Corporate banking organisation to help then identify a Head of Compliance.
You will work very closely with the CEO and CRO and provide strategic input into the business along with being hands on.
The Head of Compliance is responsible for overseeing the regulatory compliance framework and conduct risk management across all business operations.
This senior role ensures adherence to all applicable UK regulatory requirements, supports the delivery of good customer outcomes, and maintains proper standards of market conduct.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Regulatory Oversight:
- Lead and manage the Compliance function, ensuring ongoing compliance with regulatory obligations.
- Advise the Board, Executive Risk Committee, and Management Team on emerging legislation, regulations, and industry developments.
- Oversee and maintain the Management Responsibilities Map and the Compliance Monitoring Plan.
- Serve as the principal point of contact for regulatory bodies, ensuring transparent and consistent engagement.
Governance & Reporting:
- Prepare and present regular compliance reports to senior management, the Board Risk Committee, and Executive Risk Committee.
- Identify compliance risks in new products/services and advise on the implementation of effective controls.
- Monitor the institution's Consumer Duty compliance, including ongoing processes, product assessments, and the annual Board report.
Advisory & Training:
- Provide guidance, support, and challenge to business units on compliance and conduct risk matters.
- Develop and deliver training to ensure staff understand and comply with regulatory requirements and conduct rules.
- Coordinate with departments to monitor and address compliance-related developments and ensure risk mitigation strategies are in place.
Qualifications & Experience
Education:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- ICA Diploma in Governance, Risk, and Compliance (or equivalent) is desirable.
Experience:
- Compliance and legal experience within the banking sector.
- Extensive knowledge of UK and EEA regulatory compliance, retail and corporate banking, and payments industry practices.
- Familiarity with extra-territorial regulatory issues and cross-jurisdictional compliance.
Skills:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- High attention to detail and excellent analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Effective interpersonal, negotiation, and influencing abilities.
- Demonstrated integrity and strong ethical standards.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate a team.
- Aspiration to hold SMF16 designation under the Senior Managers Regime.
4 days a week in the office / salary upto £120,000 per annum / discretionary bonus
