Are you a driven engineering sales professional with a passion for winning new business and building long-term customer relationships? We are a well-established and highly respected precision engineering and fabrication business, supplying complex machined and fabricated components to a diverse range of industries including Aerospace, Defence, Rail, Marine, Offshore, Power Generation, Automotive and Special Purpose Machinery. Due to continued growth and ambitious expansion plans, we are looking to appoint an experienced Sales Manager / Business Development Manager to drive new business acquisition and develop strategic customer partnerships across the UK. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who understands subcontract precision CNC machining and fabrication, enjoys being out in the field meeting customers, and thrives on converting opportunities into long-term business relationships.

What You'll Be Doing

  • As a key member of the commercial team, you will be responsible for identifying, developing and securing profitable new business opportunities whilst growing existing customer relationships.

Sales Manager's Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a proactive business development strategy to generate new sales opportunities across targeted sectors.
  • Identify, engage and secure new customers requiring precision machining and fabrication services.
  • Build strong relationships with engineering, procurement and operational decision-makers.
  • Conduct customer visits, presentations and technical discussions.
  • Generate and maintain a healthy sales pipeline through networking, market research and lead generation activities.
  • Prepare and submit sales forecasts, pipeline reports and activity updates.
  • Manage opportunities through the full sales cycle, from initial contact through to contract award.
  • Attend industry exhibitions, networking events and conferences to raise company profile and identify opportunities.
  • Work closely with internal engineering and production teams to develop customer solutions.
  • Support quotation activities and commercial negotiations.
  • Maintain accurate records within the CRM system.
  • Identify opportunities to increase revenue within existing accounts through cross-selling and additional services.

Sales Manager's Skills & Experience

Sales Manager's Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven success within an Engineering Sales, Business Development or Account Management role.
  • Strong knowledge of subcontract precision CNC machining and fabrication.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Good understanding of manufacturing processes, materials and engineering principles.
  • Experience generating and securing new business opportunities.
  • Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • Self-motivated, driven and highly organised.
  • Comfortable working independently and managing your own territory.

Sales Manager's Desirable

  • Experience selling into Aerospace, Defence, Rail, Automotive, Marine, Power Generation or Industrial sectors.
  • Existing industry network and customer contacts.
