As a Depot Team Leader (Nights), you will play a key role in driving the day-to-day success of a fast-paced operation. Leading from the front, you will energise and motivate your team to deliver high standards of performance, safety and quality. You’ll be at the heart of the operation—ensuring everything runs smoothly, identifying opportunities for improvement and making a real impact on both team performance and customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead by example to create a positive, high-performing and safety-first culture
  • Motivate and engage the team to deliver consistent productivity and quality standards
  • Effectively plan and allocate work, ensuring smooth workflow across all activities
  • Monitor performance in real time, providing guidance, coaching and support where needed
  • Maintain a clean, safe and well-organised working environment in line with all regulations
  • Identify inefficiencies and drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Carry out regular team briefings, one-to-ones and performance reviews to support development
  • Plan, organise and support all on-site logistics activities, ensuring efficiency while maintaining high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance.

Logistic operations:

  • Organise and support loading and unloading of vehicles, sorting and storage of materials, and handling of returnable items
  • Oversee repair and maintenance of equipment such as pallets and handling materials
  • Actively participate in stock control and inventory processes to minimise discrepancies
  • Set work priorities and provide operational support where required
  • Monitor performance using KPIs and report outcomes to the Site Manager
  • Act as a first point of contact for customers regarding operational activities
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement to enhance quality and reduce costs

Managing Installations:

  • Ensure all site equipment and machinery are maintained in optimal working condition to support operational efficiency and meet customer requirements.
  • Monitor and review key operational processes critical to daily performance
  • Support the effective operation of machinery and equipment
  • Carry out basic preventative maintenance and assess wear and tear
  • Work closely with engineering support to address faults and plan maintenance activities
  • Track equipment performance against KPIs and report to the Depot Manager

Performance Indicators:

  • Effective leadership and utilisation of staff and Efficient organisation of collections and deliveries
  • Optimised planning and operational performance in line with KPIs and customer requirements and Accurate and timely reporting
  • Equipment maintained in good working condition and Safe, clean and environmentally responsible site

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Relevant vocational qualification or experience in logistics or warehouse operations
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience of managing or supervising teams
  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications
  • FLT licence or willingness to undertake training
