You will be working on sophisticated industrial monitoring, diagnostics, communications, and protection systems used throughout the electrical power industry.

- Here’s Where You’ll Demonstrate Your Proficiencies
- Lead the mechanical design and development of complex electromechanical products, assemblies, enclosures, and mounting systems used in demanding industrial and utility environments.
- Own enclosure and assembly designs from concept through production release, ensuring performance, manufacturability, serviceability, reliability, and cost objectives are achieved.
- Develop detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, manufacturing drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation.
- Perform tolerance analysis, stack‑up analysis, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) assessments.
- Conduct thermal, structural, shock, vibration, and modal analysis using analytical and simulation‑based methods.
- Lead thermal management design activities for embedded electronics, communications equipment, industrial computing platforms, sensors, and power electronics.
- Develop and validate mitigation strategies for thermal, shock, vibration, transportation, and environmental stresses affecting product performance and long‑term reliability.
- Support environmental qualification activities including vibration, shock, ingress protection (IP), temperature cycling, humidity, transportation, and accelerated life testing.
- Work closely with Electrical, Firmware, Software, Systems, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to ensure successful product integration.
- Drive root‑cause investigations and corrective actions related to mechanical, thermal, reliability, manufacturing, and field performance issues.
- Support supplier selection, manufacturing readiness, value engineering, and cost optimisation initiatives.
- Own mechanical product structures, Bills of Materials (BOMs), drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation throughout the product lifecycle.
- Drive Engineering Change Requests (ECRs), Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), deviation requests, and product release activities in accordance with company processes.
- Lead change impact assessments covering product performance, manufacturability, cost, quality, supply chain, reliability, compliance, and installed‑base considerations.
- Ensure accurate configuration management and control of mechanical designs through PLM, ERP, PDM, and engineering data management systems.
- Support Sales, Product Management, and Application Engineering teams in evaluating customer‑specific requirements, special modifications, and product variation requests.
- Develop practical enclosure concepts, assembly modifications, and configurable product variants that meet customer requirements while maintaining reliability, manufacturability, compliance, and lifecycle supportability.
- Assess technical and commercial impacts of customer‑specific modifications, including cost, schedule, tooling, qualification, certification, manufacturing, and service implications.
- Support proposal and quotation activities through concept development, feasibility assessments, engineering estimates, and solution reviews.
- Drive standardisation and modular design approaches that maximise customer flexibility while minimising unnecessary product variation.
- Leverage advanced simulation, modelling, automation, and AI‑assisted engineering tools to improve product quality and accelerate development activities.
Qualifications
- The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- Product development experience within industrial, electronics, instrumentation, automation, communications, or related industries.
- Strong experience designing electromechanical assemblies and industrial product enclosures containing embedded electronics, communications hardware, sensors, and power systems.
- Expert‑level proficiency using Solid Works or equivalent 3D CAD platforms.
- Extensive experience applying thermal management techniques including conduction, convection, radiation, airflow management, heatsinks, thermal interfaces, and environmental derating.
- Strong understanding of structural mechanics, vibration, fatigue, shock loading, mechanical reliability, and environmental robustness.
- Proven experience using simulation and analysis tools to support product development and design validation.
- Experience supporting environmental qualification testing and reliability verification activities.
- Strong knowledge of sheet metal, machined, cast, moulded, fabricated, and injection‑moulded component design.
- Strong understanding of GD&T, tolerance analysis, materials selection, DFMA, and engineering best practices.
- Experience managing product structures, Bills of Materials (BOMs), engineering documentation, and design releases within PLM systems.
- Hands‑on experience working with PLM and ERP systems such as Oracle Agile PLM, Oracle Cloud PLM, Windchill, Teamcenter, Arena, or similar platforms.
- Experience using Solid Works PDM, Autodesk Vault, or similar engineering data management systems for revision control, configuration management, and product releases.
- Strong experience managing ECR, ECO, ECN, deviation, waiver, and product release workflows.
- Experience developing customer‑specific product modifications, configurable product variants, and engineered solutions for industrial products.
- Experience conducting root‑cause analysis and resolving complex product design, manufacturing, and field issues.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, leadership, and technical communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within cross‑functional engineering teams.

- Strong understanding of vibration isolation techniques, damping strategies, structural reinforcement methods, and environmental mitigation approaches.

- Experience supporting accelerated life testing, HALT, HASS, reliability growth, and failure analysis activities.
- Experience supporting compliance and regulatory activities including UL, CE, IEC, IEEE, Ro HS, and REACH requirements.
- Experience supporting manufacturing transfers, supplier qualification, contract manufacturers, and global supply chains.
- Experience integrating CAD, PLM, and ERP systems to support efficient engineering and manufacturing workflows.
- Experience supporting customer‑specific solutions, configurable product architectures, engineered‑to‑order (ETO) products, application engineering activities, and technical proposal development.
