The Role

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for producing detailed mechanical building services designs across a range of projects. You will work closely with project managers, electrical engineers and site teams to ensure coordinated, compliant and commercially viable designs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design mechanical building services systems including HVAC, heating, ventilation, and associated pipework
  • Produce detailed drawings, schematics and layouts using industry-standard software
  • Carry out heat loss/heat gain calculations and system sizing
  • Prepare technical submissions and assist with tender documentation
  • Ensure designs comply with current regulations and industry standards
  • Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure fully integrated solutions
  • Provide technical support throughout installation and commissioning phases

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a Mechanical Design Engineer role within building services
  • Strong understanding of HVAC and mechanical building systems
  • Experience using design software such as AutoCAD, Revit or similar
  • Knowledge of UK building regulations and CIBSE guidance
  • Ability to manage workload across multiple projects
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Desirable

  • HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services
