The Role
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for producing detailed mechanical building services designs across a range of projects. You will work closely with project managers, electrical engineers and site teams to ensure coordinated, compliant and commercially viable designs.
Key Responsibilities
- Design mechanical building services systems including HVAC, heating, ventilation, and associated pipework
- Produce detailed drawings, schematics and layouts using industry-standard software
- Carry out heat loss/heat gain calculations and system sizing
- Prepare technical submissions and assist with tender documentation
- Ensure designs comply with current regulations and industry standards
- Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure fully integrated solutions
- Provide technical support throughout installation and commissioning phases
Requirements
- Previous experience in a Mechanical Design Engineer role within building services
- Strong understanding of HVAC and mechanical building systems
- Experience using design software such as AutoCAD, Revit or similar
- Knowledge of UK building regulations and CIBSE guidance
- Ability to manage workload across multiple projects
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Desirable
- HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services
- Experience working on commercial or industrial projects
- Working knowledge of BIM environments
