An experienced HSE Manager is required to support the delivery of a major Β£20M electrical package on the Bristol Arena project. Working directly for the Electrical Contractor, the successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of health, safety and environmental compliance across all project activities.
The role will support a site team of approximately 100 operatives and work closely with the Project Manager, Engineers, Supervisors, Commissioning Teams, Client Representatives and Subcontractors to ensure safe delivery throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities- Lead all Health, Safety & Environmental activities across the electrical package.
- Ensure compliance with UK Health & Safety legislation and project-specific requirements.
- Review and monitor RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements).
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits and safety tours.
- Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings and site inductions.
- Investigate incidents, accidents and near misses.
- Prepare reports and recommendations for project management.
- Liaise with the Main Contractor, Client and regulatory bodies as required.
- Support permit-to-work, isolation and energisation procedures.
- Monitor subcontractor compliance and site standards.
- Promote a positive safety culture across the project.
- Assist with emergency response planning and implementation.
- Previous HSE experience on major construction projects.
- Experience working within electrical, M&E, industrial or infrastructure environments.
- Strong understanding of UK construction health and safety legislation.
- Experience conducting audits, inspections and incident investigations.
- Experience supporting Project Managers, Engineers and Supervisors.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate (minimum).
- CSCS Card.
- IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent.
- NEBOSH Diploma (desirable).
- Membership of IOSH or IIRSM advantageous.
- First Aid qualification desirable.
