The Role
We’re currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established M&E contractor based in Liverpool for a Mechanical Project Manager to join their team on a permanent basis.
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing mechanical works across a range of public sector construction projects including schools, universities, healthcare facilities, and hotels. The role will involve managing site teams, subcontractors, and ensuring that all work is delivered to a high standard, on time and within budget.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced site manager with a mechanical background who is looking for long-term stability and local projects without the need to travel nationwide.
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day mechanical operations on site, including labour and subcontractor coordination
- Ensure work is delivered in accordance with project specifications, drawings and timelines
- Monitor site safety, quality and progress, and carry out regular inspections
- Liaise with clients, consultants, and internal project teams to ensure smooth communication
- Oversee materials management, deliveries, and equipment on site
- Provide progress reports to senior management and assist in resolving site issues
- Support the commissioning and handover process
Requirements
- Proven experience in a Mechanical Site Manager role within the construction sector
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems including HVAC and pipework
- Background in delivering public sector projects such as schools or healthcare is preferred
- SMSTS or SSSTS certification
- Relevant mechanical qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 or HNC/HND in Building Services
- Excellent leadership, organisation and communication skills
- Full UK driving licence
- Must be based within commutable distance to Liverpool and willing to travel locally
