About the job Principal Electrical Engineer
A leading multidisciplinary consultancy is seeking a Principal Electrical Building Services Engineer to join their team in Belfast. Youll lead the detailed design and coordination of electrical building services for a wide range of new-build projects across sectors such as commercial, education, healthcare, and infrastructure.
This is a key senior role within a highly respected team, ideal for someone ready to deliver high-impact design solutions while mentoring others and contributing to a collaborative, people-focused working culture.
What You\βll Be Doing
- Take ownership of detailed electrical building services design, including lighting, power, switchgear, IT, schematics, schedules, floor plans, and associated specifications
- Lead the design process from early-stage proposals through to technical delivery and handover
- Coordinate closely with other disciplines to ensure integrated project delivery
- Mentor and support the development of junior engineers and design staff
- Attend client and design team meetings, representing the company with professionalism and technical confidence
- Contribute to planning, resource management, and workload delegation across the electrical services team
Key Requirements
- Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering or Building Services (MEng preferred)
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards chartership
- Able to lead electrical engineering design on small to large-scale projects
- Comfortable supporting multidisciplinary projects and contributing to MEP coordination
- Proficient in relevant design software and tools, including Revit, Amtech, and Dialux
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to guide teams and manage client relationships
- Experience acting in a project leadership or deputy project manager role is advantageous
