MEP Connections is partnering with a leading building services consultancy to recruit a Senior Mechanical Engineer for their Belfast office. With a strong reputation for delivering sustainable, high-quality engineering solutions across Ireland, the UK, and Europe, this consultancy continues to grow and is now looking to strengthen its mechanical team.
This is an exciting opportunity for a driven and experienced engineer to take a leading role in project delivery while also supporting and mentoring junior staff while also focused on winning work.
The Role
You will work as part of a dynamic MEP team on a variety of technically complex and sustainable projects, from concept through to handover. The role will involve hands‐on design work, client engagement, team coordination, and contributing to strategic growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of mechanical building services systems including HVAC, public health, and domestic water
- Manage projects across sectors such as commercial, healthcare, residential, and education
- Mentor and support junior engineers, providing technical guidance and performance feedback
- Engage with clients and design teams, presenting design ideas and technical solutions
- Ensure projects meet technical standards, deadlines, and client expectations
- Contribute to continuous improvement of design processes and team development
- Take an active role in driving quality and innovation within the business
What You'll Bring
- Degree in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent)
- Minimum 5 years' experience in mechanical design, ideally in a consultancy setting
- In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems design (HVAC, hot/cold water, drainage)
- Comfortable leading projects and coordinating with clients and internal teams
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- A proactive, problem-solving mindset and a high level of attention to detail
- Chartered or working towards Chartership (CEng/CIBSE/IMechE) preferred
