The predicted salary is between 12 - 13 £ per hour.

Term-Time working (with some holiday hours). Fixed-term/Part-time – initially until 12 February 2027. Grade 2 (SCP 3) £12.85 per hour. The role is 13.75 hours per week, worked during term time. Exact working hours will be discussed and agreed at appointment, in line with the school’s lunchtime service needs.

Job purpose

  • Support the preparation and service of school meals as part of a small, supportive kitchen team.
  • Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and health and safety within the kitchen and dining areas.
  • Assist with routine kitchen tasks including food preparation, serving, washing up, cleaning surfaces and equipment, and waste disposal.
  • Follow agreed procedures, menus and schedules to ensure a smooth and timely lunch service.

Responsibilities

Ideal candidate / Qualifications

  • Have experience working in a kitchen or food preparation environment (school catering experience is desirable but not essential).
  • Understand the importance of food hygiene, health and safety, and COSHH requirements.
  • Be reliable and punctual, able to work well as part of a team, and willing to support colleagues during busy periods.
  • Be willing to undertake mandatory training, including food hygiene and health & safety training.
