We have a great opportunity for an Outsourced Accounting Senior working predominantly with Not-For-Profit (NFP) clients to join our team in the Manchester office.

You’ll work predominantly with a varied portfolio of Not-for-Profit (NFP) and charity clients, helping them get the most from their finance function while delivering a high-quality, advisory-led service.

You’ll take ownership of more complex accounting and financial reporting assignments, including preparing NFP and charity accounts in line with UK GAAP and Charities SORP requirements. Your work will span the full accounting cycle – from day-to-day accounting and source records through to management accounts and year-end statutory financial statements.

You’ll use your knowledge of NFP accounting and fund accounting, including restricted, unrestricted and designated funds, to provide accurate and meaningful reporting for clients.

Alongside developing trusted client relationships, you’ll work closely with Accounts Managers and have the opportunity to support and develop junior colleagues, sharing your knowledge and helping them progress.

Here’s what you’ll be doing:
✅ You’ll work closely with a varied portfolio of predominantly Not-for-Profit and charity clients, taking ownership of their accounting requirements and becoming a trusted part of their wider finance support.
✅ Take responsibility for preparing management accounts and overseeing day-to-day accounting activities for your portfolio of NFP clients.
✅ Prepare statutory accounts, consolidations, financial reports and other assignments, applying your knowledge of NFP and charity accounting.
✅ Maintain accurate accounting records and working papers, including preparing and posting month-end adjustments.
✅ Prepare and complete VAT returns, confidently applying your technical knowledge.
✅ Get involved in a range of client projects, from cloud accounting conversions and bespoke reporting to supporting clients with catch-up exercises and improving their finance processes.
✅ Build strong, trusted relationships with clients, Relationship Managers and Partners, developing your confidence as a key client contact.
✅ Support, supervise and develop junior colleagues, sharing your knowledge and ensuring work is delivered accurately and on time.
✅ Collaborate with teams across Menzies to provide clients with a joined-up, advisory-led service and identify opportunities to add further value.

What We’re Looking For:
We’re looking for someone with a strong accounting background who enjoys working with clients and has experience within the Not-for-Profit sector. You’ll be keen to build on your technical knowledge, take greater ownership of your work and continue developing your career within a supportive team.

You’ll ideally bring:
· At least 2 years’ accounting experience within an accountancy practice, and be ACA or ACCA qualified or working towards your qualification.
· Relevant experience working with Not-for-Profit clients, such as charities, membership organisations, foundations or other purpose-led organisations.
· A good understanding of accounting and financial reporting requirements within the NFP sector, including Charities SORP and fund accounting, where applicable.
· Experience preparing accounts in accordance with UK GAAP.
· Confidence communicating with clients and senior stakeholders, with the ability to make financial information clear and easy to understand.
· The ability to apply your technical accounting knowledge to real client situations and take ownership of your work.
· Experience with accounting software such as Xero, Dext, CaseWare and QuickBooks, alongside strong Excel skills.
· Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to prioritise your workload and meet deadlines.
· A collaborative approach – comfortable working independently while also contributing to the wider team.
· An interest in supporting and developing junior colleagues, sharing your knowledge and helping them build their skills and confidence.
· A relationship-focused approach, working collaboratively with colleagues across Menzies to deliver the best possible service to clients.

There may be occasional travel to other Menzies offices and client sites where required.
